The 14th edition of Rajnigandha Presents Jagran Film Festival, the World’s Largest Travelling Film Festival, is all set to return to New Delhi from 20th to 23rd August 2026 at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre. Celebrating the power of cinema to challenge perspectives, spark conversations and reflect the changing world around us, the festival continues to bring together some of the most compelling voices from Indian cinema.
As part of this year’s festival, “From Pink to Power: Breaking Stereotypes Through Cinema” will feature an engaging conversation with acclaimed actor Taapsee Pannu, whose career has been defined by her fearless choice of characters and stories that challenge conventions. From portraying women who refuse to be silenced in films such as Pink and Thappad to taking on complex, unconventional and often stereotype-defying roles, Taapsee has carved a distinctive space for herself in Indian cinema.
The session will delve into how cinema can question deeply rooted stereotypes, reshape the way women are represented on screen and encourage audiences to look beyond familiar narratives. Taapsee will reflect on her own journey, the choices that have shaped her career, the risks that come with breaking away from the conventional mould and the responsibility that comes with using cinema as a tool to question, provoke and inspire.
Speaking about being a part of Rajnigandha Presents Jagran Film Festival, Taapsee Pannu said, “For me, breaking stereotypes has always started with being willing to take a risk and play a woman who may not fit into the version of her that people expect to see. Films like Pink and Thappad became part of a larger conversation because the characters were not created to simply fit a familiar mould. I have always believed that cinema becomes more interesting when we allow women to be flawed, complicated, ambitious and unapologetically themselves. I am looking forward to discussing these choices and the conversations they have sparked at Jagran Film Festival.”
The conversation promises to be one of the highlights of Rajnigandha Presents Jagran Film Festival’s Delhi edition, offering audiences a rare opportunity to hear Taapsee Pannu speak candidly about the choices, convictions and experiences that have shaped her journey. True to JFF’s spirit of bringing cinema, culture and the country’s most compelling voices into one space, the session promises to leave audiences with a fresh perspective on the stories we tell, the stereotypes we challenge, and the change cinema can inspire.
