TECHNO-ROMANTICISM BROUGHT BENGALURU A DAY WHERE HUMAN IMAGINATION MET THE TECHNOLOGY OF TOMORROW

BENGALURU, India  — On August 12, all three floors of Sanctuary Parc came alive for Techno-Romanticism, a one-day exhibition that drew 400+ attendees and asked a simple but underexplored question: what is the relationship between humans and the technology they create?

Conceived and co-curated by Spacekayak and egomonk as the closing note to Basecamp Bengaluru, it was neither a conference nor a product showcase. It was a living gallery, a day built for wandering, participating, and encountering technology not just as a tool, but as culture shaped by human ambition, curiosity, and wonder.

The Romantic Threshold

Techno-Romanticism drew its spirit from the Romantic movement — the counter-current that met the machine age two centuries ago by placing imagination, emotion, and human experience back at the center.

“Two hundred years ago, the Romantics met the machine age with imagination. We are at that threshold again. AI will write, render and reason. The people who matter will be the ones who feel. Techno-Romanticism is a museum built from taste, love and the human hand.” —  Paul Finney, Founder, Spacekayak

“We are living in a new Renaissance powered by AI. Although this moment may feel alien, I remain optimistic that technology will do what it always has: connect humans and usher in abundance. This is why we celebrated romanticism — ensuring imagination and human experience remain at the heart of everything we do.” —  Sartaj Anand, Founder, egomonk

What Unfolded Across Three Floors

  • A holographic AI voiced by Maya Research held live conversations with the audience, turning dialogue into a spatial encounter.
  • Dognosis made a dog’s hidden sensory world visible through its DogSense technology.
  • Alt Carbon brought foraminifera under the microscope — marine organisms whose shells preserve nearly 500 million years of ocean memory, older than the dinosaurs.
  • Panic Press turned the imperfections of colour registration into live screen-printing art.
  • Dirac Labs read the Earth’s magnetic memory with quantum sensors, revealing navigation beyond GPS.
  • Dimensional OS let visitors control robots across continents with their bare hands.
  • Sando Club put an AI voice agent in charge of the kitchen.
  • egomonk’s Builder’s Bestiary explored the mythology founders build around themselves.

…and much more across 18+ installations, including immersive soundscapes, live cultural marketplaces, gaming nostalgia, and a look at unfinished ideas.

By the Numbers

  • 400+ attendees across the day
  • 18+ installations spanning art, music, food, gaming, finance, and robotics
  • 3 floors of Sanctuary Parc, transformed into a living gallery
  • Under 2 weeks from blueprint to fully realized experience

A Day That Proved a Point

For Spacekayak and egomonk, Techno-Romanticism was a shared bet that wonder and rigor belong together. Beyond the installations, its production told its own story: how fast high-concept narrative, technology, and spatial design can move when the right teams collaborate.
